PPG ENGINES

Common in Australia

The actual "engines" used in most paramotors in the world these days can be used in many brands of "Paramotors". Here is a little info on some of the common motors used in Australia.

CORSAIR engine : 172.5cc 2 stroke.

Maximum RPM 7,550

Good for medium to heavier weight pilots. Medium weight engine with belt reduction drive. Good thrust. Has been popular for quite a few years now.

TOP80 engine : 80cc 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 9,500

Good for lighter to medium weight pilots. Very lightweight engine with sealed gear reduction drive and centrifugal clutch. Very quiet. Has been popular for quite a few years now.

ROS125 engine : 123.67cc 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 10,000

Good for light to medium weight pilots. Has sealed gear reduction drive and centrifugal clutch.

POLINI THOR engine : 110cc 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 8,900

Relatively new to the PPG market. Good for medium to heavier pilots. Very good quality. Has sealed gear reduction drive and centrifugal clutch.

SKY110 engine : 110cc Watercooled 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 10,200

The latest in watercooled 2 stroke PPG engines. Good for light to medium weight pilots. Has sealed gear reduction drive and centrifugal clutch. Very high quality.

SIMONINI Mini2 Plus engine : 202cc 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 7,500

Good for heavier pilots. Medium weight engine with belt reduction drive. Good thrust. Has been popular for quite a few years now.

BAILEY V5 : 195cc 4 stroke

Maximum RPM 8,000

The latest in 4 stroke PPG engines. The only commercially made single cylinder 4 stroke on the market. Good for medium weight pilots. Belt reduction drive. The best engine for low fuel consumption. Not typically as light as the 2 stroke engines. Very quiet.

RADNE RAKET engine : 120 cc 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 9,500

Good for light weight pilots. Very lightweight engine with belt reduction drive and centrifugal clutch. A fairly low output thrust motor. Was really the first "lightweight" motor used in paramotors. Has been used for many years now but has now been outdated by the newer small capacity engines.

SOLO 210 engine : 208cc 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 6,200

Pretty much the "original/basic" paramotor engine. Only used by less than a handful of manufacturers in the world now. It is outdated by the newer motors with much greater performance and efficiency.

JCV-360 engine : 360cc 2 cylinder watercooled 4 stroke

Maximum RPM 7,800

The latest in small 2 cylinder 4 stroke motors suitable for PPG wheeled bases. Features include watercooling and oil cooling all in a very compact engine. Very good quality. Very quiet, very smooth running 4 stroke technology.

MZ-34 engine : 313cc 2 stroke

Maximum RPM 6,250

Has been used in backpack PPG's but more suitable for PPG wheeled bases due to its weight and higher fuel consumption. An older style motor now.
